Come join us.
Quilts N' More meets each Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 PM September through May in the St. Paul church basement to assemble quilts for Lutheran World Relief. We do not meet during the busy summer months.
We have 2 large elevated tables onto which we layer the sheet backing, blanket filler, and quilt tops. Our volunteers machine sew the 60" x 80" quilt tops on our machines at home. The blanket fillers are purchased. The sheets and cotton quilt fabric is donated or purchased reasonably at auctions. We stretch and clamp the layers onto the table then tie the layers together with donated crochet thread. One lady takes the finished quilts home to bind it for the finishing touch. We are always amazed at how pretty each quilt is using whatever fabric is available. We have coffee and treats after we finish our work. Not everyone likes the same job, so some people sew, some iron, some pre-wash the blankets, some thread needles and some tie. There is always lots of kidding and laughter. Come and join in or just come for the coffee and fun.
